Apuldram Church

Tucked away in fields close to Chichester Harbour, St Mary’s aims to be a friendly, all age church, open to all who live in the village and the surrounding area. Visitors are particularly welcome.

We exist to be a Christian faith community, providing a spiritual and theological family base from which Christ will be proclaimed by word and example in the wider community, now and in the future.

    APRIL 2024

    Services in April
There will not be a service on the 7th April, the first Sunday of the month.  Mother Jessica will be away enjoying a well-earned post Easter break with her family.

    Easter Sunday
An Easter chocolate hunt, organised by Mother Jessica, took place in the churchyard after the well-attended Holy Communion service.  The flower team had, as always, decorated  the church beautifully with festive Easter arrangements while Jamie and Elaine built a spectacular Easter garden

    D-Day 80 6 June 2024
Plans for the commemoration are well in hand and full information will be delivered to all Apuldram residents at the end of the month.

    Apuldram’s D-Day connections
Jose Pound is compiling a very interesting history of Apuldram’s involvement in the WWII period and in particular around D-Day. This will be displayed on boards in the DQSC on 6th June and then move into the church for the summer.
She asks if anyone in the village has any stories about D-Day, either personal recollections or narratives passed down through families or friends. If you can help she would love to hear from you no later than Friday 7th May. [email protected]

Mini D-Day Flower Festival in the church
The flower team are planning a mini flower festival over the D-Day commemoration period and would welcome some assistance.

They need about five model Spitfires as part of the display and wonder if any keen model maker would either have some or would like to make some.  The only proviso is that they should not be of value, either monetary or personal, as the church will be unmanned.

The team would also welcome donations for the flowers in remembrance of a family member who played a part in the D-Day Landings.
If you can help with either of the above, please let Jose Pound know [email protected]

Spring opening of the garden at Rymans – 13th and 14th April
Come and enjoy the spring gardens and discover what is in flower. The tulips should be spectacular. The church tea ladies will have been busy baking a selection of delectable cakes so come on up to the church after you have enjoyed the garden for a relaxing cup of tea and slice of cake.
