Regular Services

A very warm welcome is extended to everyone attending services. All Christians who take communion are welcome to do so at Apuldram; anyone who does not is warmly invited to come to the altar for a blessing.

We believe that all God’s people, from a few weeks to 100 years or more, are part of the family of Christ and are welcome at services. Toys and drawing materials are provided for youngsters. If you are a visitor of newcomer please make yourself known to the sidesman on duty.

For those at home
Communion can be taken to people’s homes if they are too unwell or frail to come to church.

    April 2015

John Treadgold, Dean of Chichester Cathedral from 1989 to 2001, died in February. As Dean he was our Patron at St Mary’s and following his retirement he continued to visit to take services on occasion. It is due in part to him that we now have Moira as our parish priest: he came to Chichester at a time when there was much hostility to women priests within the diocese but he was strongly supportive of women’s ministry. If you look up outside the cathedral you may catch sight of the gargoyle that was inspired by his face, carved during renovation work on the cathedral.

Building the Easter Garden in the church will start at 10.30 a.m. on Good Friday, 3rd April. Lots of help is needed so, children, bring your parents, grandparents or guardians and we will be very happy to see you. Please bring some small flowers, and moss if you have any. Hot cross buns, coffee and squash will be served afterwards.

Church decorating for Easter will follow on after the building of the Easter Garden or on Saturday if preferred.

The Easter Sunday service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Apuldram. Please come and join us.

Rymans Gardens open on 11th and 12th April for the first time this year and once again the church is delighted to have been invited to provide the teas. Come and enjoy the spring gardens, in April a mass of flowering bulbs and shrubs – the avenue of black poplars underplanted with daffodils is spectacular. The church tea ladies will have been busy baking a selection of delectable cakes so please stop by and support the church by having tea and cake.

The Parish Church Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday 19th April, following the 11.00 service.

The new church hall at Fishbourne, just next to the church, has now been officially opened. Please see overleaf for full details of this wonderful achievement.
